WORDS A picture says more than a thousand words. Inversely, I transfer a word to a picture: Words are triggers for feelings, compulsions and concepts. A word contains everything! It asks questions and gives answers. Visual perception fuses into intellectual development. Visualised communication as a result of ambiguous metonymy. Worlds of words as a result of thinking, language and art. I translate current verbal conditions into spatial, or limited, dimensions. The word is isolated - like a signet. In the 21st century "calligraphy", the elegant writing is a mirror of society. Passion, violence and sex are popular topics in life's cabaret. Sensory overload as a result of a blunted society. Sanctimoniousness becomes a brand, buzzwords a religion and perversity socially acceptable. Tuned words become a symbol of times hungry for experience, yet cold to emotion. The abstraction of the word fuses with the abstraction of the pictorial manifesto. Alongside critical social aspects, joie de vivre and pleasure are subjects of my work. Urban aphorisms are the expression of captured impressions. The word ART becomes artwork in itself. The advertising billboards and logos I have orientated myself towards are those where the signal effect is an important element for controlling the sub-conscious. My art goes from shape and colour to perception. The emotions triggered are unharbored. The actual word channels the observer into a place of action. A thought process is individually initiated depending on the mood. Words = sensed memories: life - dream - reality. The message of my work - a tribute to words. |
